Projects and Initiatives
West Gippsland Progress Association
WGPA Past Chair Barry Crees gives an overview of the projects that are currently being undertaken.
Food & Tourism Strategy
West Gippsland Progress Association identified the need for a coordinated Food and Tourism approach through a series of community-led workshops held in late 2020. In partnership with Cardinia Shire Council, WGPA engaged Tourism Recreation Conservation Consultants (TRC Tourism) to develop a three-year West Gippsland Food & Tourism Strategy.
Since completing the strategy period, WGPA has focused on delivering practical outcomes aligned with its recommendations. This includes working with Destination Gippsland, supporting regional promotion through the Eat & Drink guide, maintaining the West Gippsland Food Touring Map, and contributing to targeted marketing activities that promote local food and tourism businesses.
Regenerative Agriculture
West Gippsland Progress Association is working to support a sustainable future for the region, with regenerative agriculture as a key focus.
WGPA aims to build a clear food point of difference for West Gippsland by supporting regenerative farming practices, responsible land management, and food systems that produce nutritious, ethically grown food.
This work is guided by a local working group and focuses on practical, on-the-ground actions, including farmer education, knowledge sharing, and partnerships that strengthen long-term regenerative agriculture across the region.
